The sweet and savory moments we encounter in life are key focal points of S. Deborah Desser’s writings. Her first children’s book, Mumbo Jumbo Poetry and Haiku (penned under Deborah Desser-Herchan), reflects the multi-faceted emotions of growing up – the fun, the serious, and just about everything in between. However, her soon-to-be-released book (November 2022), The Last Leaf, is a departure, a gentle look at loss, sadness, and questioning mortality. Both books are beautifully illustrated, capturing the essence of two different genres.
A self-proclaimed divergent-thinking Luddite, whose writing skills far surpass her tech prowess, Deborah is a lover of life; an avid reader, a professional interior designer, a creative who dabbles in painting, composing music, and singing, thirster of travel and adventures, an enthusiastic cook and baker, a sub-par (pun intended) golfer, and beyond the moon and stars passionate mother of one son.
Deborah hails from Montreal, Canada, and is currently living in Florida. She studied languages, literature, and linguistics, teaches spirituality, and creative writing classes to seniors, and is a proud member of the Authors Guild, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
